Nordstrom’s charity shop “Treasure & Bond” is scheduled to open today in NYC – don’t confuse the concept with a Salvation Army – the goods they’re selling are brand new and very hip – and not at all offered at a discount. But 100% of the profits are going to help local New York groups and that’s fabulous.

T&B will benefit two charities each quarter; the current beneficiaries are the New York Public Library’s Programs for Children and Young Adults, and NYC’s Young Men’s Initiative.

According to The Cut, “The store credits the nonprofit business plan to Anna Wintour herself; apparently, the idea started with a phone call from the Vogue EIC to Pete Nordstrom.” Good thinking Ms. Wintour!!

The two-story, 11,137-square-foot store stocks is located at 350 West Broadway in Manhattan. It will carry a wide range of goods including clothing and accessories for ladies and men on the 2nd floor. The first floor is chock full of tabletop designs, home accessories and books.

So, tip of the hat to you Nordstrom for stepping up today. We hope Treasure and Bond is a huge success and leads to similar stores in cities around the country!

Not That We Were Gone, But Now We’re Back!

It was gone, blown away in a hurricane, but with the help of line crews from all over North America our power is back!! Thanks to the IPL, Duke Energy, (and one other company with green trucks that I can’t remember the name of) crews from Indiana that moved into our area in Connecticut last week like an army and attacked the tangled lines, the downed trees, and made sense of our chaos. We’re so happy and relieved we literally jumped for joy on Saturday when our office buzzed back to life.

It seems as though when we ended the week on August 26th it was Summer, but after a strange week of toting office equipment to hotels and setting up laptops in coffee shops to keep progress flowing, it’s turned into Fall. Well yay to that!! Good to be back.
